The Roman Baths are located in the city of Bath on the site of a natural hot springs. It was discovered by a British monarch, King Bladud, in 863 BC but later taken over and expanded by invading Romans. The Temple to Sulis (Minerva) is believed to have been built in 60-70 AD. Construction and expansion continued over the next three hundred years. The original public baths were destroyed in the sixth century. Today the Roman Baths consist of four main features: the Sacred Spring, Roman Temple, Roman Bath House and the Museum. Visitors can wander through the site but are not allowed to enter the waters.
